This October we’ll publish Other Shane Hintons, by Shane Hinton – his third book with Burrow. Always weird, sometimes gross, often deadpan hilarious, Shane’s work was once described by the author Lidia Yuknavitch as the “lovechild” of Kafka and Flannery O’Connor.
This year marks a decade since we published Shane’s debut story collection, Pinkies, and we’re celebrating by offering this book bundle to anyone who wants to join the cult of Shane Hinton. The bundle includes:
Pinkies (2015) is a story collection where the fears and anxieties of fatherhood manifest in the absurd and the surreal: a suburb full of roving pythons, a house that seems to attract car accidents, and so on…
Radio Dark (2019) is an eerie Lynchian spin on the post-apocalyptic novel set on the suburban edge of a dying citrus grove.
Other Shane Hintons (October 2025) is not quite a story collection, not quite a novel. Hinton returns to using himself as a narrator, or versions of himself, resulting in something like confessional fictions, or a memoir in lies. Just as surreal and strange as his other books, this one incorporates elements of horror: there are ghosts, the devil makes an appearance, and there is a moment of grace delivered by sewer flies.
