Ashley Belanger graduated from the University of Florida in 2006 with a bachelor's degree in Journalism and a minor in Creative Writing. It wasn't until she left "the swamp" that her mind began to wander into the fringes of Florida, ignoring the beaches and exploring wetlands, wilderness areas and state parks to get a better sense of environment. It was supposed to clear her mind. Florida proved too weird for that. From these explorations, a literary zine called Felt sprang, compiling personal essay, fiction, poetry and experimental writing that spoke purely through the lens of this state. Serving as associate editor of Orlando Weekly from 2012-2015, she became dedicated to showing readers how much more there is to Florida, if you're not afraid to break free from the land of A/C.
