Starting June 14, 2010, a herd of young talent will gather at the old Urban Think! Bookstore space for the annual Page 15 Young Writers Camp. Each camper, nominated by a teacher, enjoys the camp for FREE based on community donations. The camp lasts for one week, with each week dedicated to a different age group, for a total of five weeks. During the camp, each child is guided to write his/her own book, as well as participate in creative activities and exercises. Page 15 brings in local talent, such as musicians, authors and artists to showcase the lifestyles of those who express themselves through creativity. Simply, the goal is to help each child learn to communicate his/her ideas. The challenge, to bring the fun back into reading and writing.
Just $250 sponsors a child for the entire week, plus supplies him/her with materials and lunch. Burrow Press is proud to sponsor a child, and hopes you do too. If you read, write or use words on a daily basis, you understand the importance of teaching the next generation the world of literature. After all, they are the ones responsible for entertaining us when we’re old, and rocking in chairs at a nursing home. Go to www.page15.org/scribe to make a donation. Every bit helps!
